Letters to Santa

Children wanting to send letters to Santa Claus can drop off their letters at the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office located at 727 McDowell Rd., Asheboro, November 15th through December
16th, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, and our 305 Balfour Dr., Archdale location, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm. If kids write a letter to Santa, they need to make sure that they put their address on the letter if they want Santa to send a reply.

Asheboro Christmas Parade

December 1 @ 7:00 PM – Downtown Asheboro, NC

Join us for an evening of family fun as the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Asheboro Christmas parade, to be held on Friday, December 1, at 7 p.m. in downtown Asheboro. The parade route, filled with beautiful floats, musicians, dancers, and a host of other entries, will begin at the corner of Church and Sunset Avenue, head east on Sunset to Fayetteville Street, then south of Fayetteville Street, and ending at Kivett Street.

Kyle Petty Meet & Greet

December 1 @ 5:30-6:30 PM
Sunset Theater, Asheboro

A meet and greet will be held with this year’s parade grand marshal, Kyle Petty, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Sunset Theatre to celebrate his new book Swerve or Die: Life at My Speed in the First Family of NASCAR Racing. Please note the meet and greet will end promptly at 6:30 to allow Mr. Petty and his sons time to make their way to their parade vehicle.

A tree lighting ceremony will be held at the City of Asheboro Christmas tree at the railroad tracks on Sunset at 6 p.m. and will feature a performance by the Asheboro High School Park Street Ensemble.

The Liberty Chamber of Commerce Annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Festival! Join us Saturday December 2nd from 2:30-6 to kick off the Holiday Season! Annual Christmas Parade will start at 2:30 on Greensboro Street with the Tree Lighting Festival on Depot Street immediately following! Come Celebrate Christmas in downtown Liberty, listen to Live Music, shop at our Holiday Market, play at the Kidzone, get a free picture with Santa, all while eating free hotdogs, hot cocoa, and roasting s’mores on the open fire! Be the Light 5K & Holiday Event at Creekside Park

Be the Light Holiday Event

Join us for our new Holiday event! We are partnering with Serco and Run 5 Feed 5 to provide a magical night in the park on December 3rd.  This is a huge family event where everyone can be the light (in a childs eye on Christmas morning, for a hungry family, for those who need a little assistance). EVERYONE ENTERING THE PARK AFTER 4PM WILL HAVE TO USE THE MOSE DRIVE ENTRANCE!

5K Run/Walk Admission: $30 pp or group discount. Please click here to register.

Randleman Christmas Parade

December 7 @ 7:00 PM – Downtown Randleman

Randleman is proud to announce the 2023 Christmas Parade. The parade this year will be Thursday, December 7th starting at 7pm. The parade will begin on the corner of Main St. and Swain St. and travel Main St. towards High Point St. The City Christmas Tree located in Commerce Square will be lit at the conclusion of the parade. So please make plans to attend the lighting of the tree after the parade.

Friends of Randolph Library bookshop to offer Christmas book bundle deal, author event

The Friends of the Library Bookshop will offer author book bundles in December, and host an author appearance during Asheboro’s Christmas Downtown on Friday, December 8.

The bookshop will be open 6-9 p.m. during the Christmas Downtown event. Loretta Lutman, author of I shoot Squirrels on Sundays and Other Stories, will be on hand to sell and sign books.

Beginning December 2, the bookshop will offer bundles of four books by the same author for $5 each. Books in each bundle will be tied together with a Christmas ribbon, making a lovely gift for fellow readers.

The bundles will feature a variety of authors.

The bookshop is located at 226 Sunset Avenue. Regular hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Gently used hardback books go for $3, paperbacks for $2 and trade paperbacks for $2.50, with prices increasing by $1 for books published in the last four years. All children’s books are $1. Some special books are priced individually.

A portion of bookshop proceeds support Randolph County Public Libraries book budgets. For more information about the bookshop, call 336-629-1536 during regular hours.

Staley Christmas Parade

Christmas with the Ember’s

December 4 @ 7:00 PM – Randleman Elementary Auditorium

The Randleman Chamber hosts Christmas with the Ember’s Monday night December 4th at 7pm at the Randleman Elementary Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30pm and advance tickets are $15 or $20 a the door. Door prizes for adults and children will be given. Tickets are available in Randleman at Freeman’s Florist & Gifts, Studio 601 and Sir Pizza and in Asheboro at PIP Printing and Allen Tate/Robin Minter or by calling the chamber office at 336-495-1100. The award-winning band brings a sensational holiday show featuring holiday favorites as well as visits from characters like Frosty, Rudolph and even Santa himself. Featured singer Craig Woolard who has been CAMMY Awards Entertainer of the Year numerous times along with the other members of the band bring excitement to the holiday season.

Christmas Country Concert

December 5 @ 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM – Asheboro Public Library

The Randolph County Public Library is proud to present local Bluegrass band True Grass with founding members Tim Moon on mandolin and lead singer and tenor and Gary Callicutt, who provides tenor vocals with his bass playing.

Accompanying them is well known banjo expert Matthew Nance and baritone vocal. William Britt plays the guitar and does most of the lead vocals.

Nolan Moon plays the fiddle, and at only 16 years old plays well beyond his years! Nolan is the son of Tim Moon and took instruction under his dad and can play blistering fast solos or slow down and play beautiful waltz styles.

We can’t wait to see you on Tuesday, December 5th at 7pm for this wonderful performance!

Caleb Sigmon’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’

He’s mean! He’s green! And he’s back — again — to steal Christmas.

Everyone’s favorite grouch will visit five Randolph County Public Libraries locations during the week of December 11 as illusionist and storyteller Caleb Sigmon returns with his highly-celebrated rendition of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Audience members’ hearts will grow three sizes as the classic story unfolds in a musical performance that includes live actors, puppets and lots of audience interaction.

The performances, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, are free and the public is invited.

Shepherd Shakespeare to stage Christmas plays at Randolph libraries

Three Randolph County libraries will host Christmas performances by the Shepherd Shakespeare Company in December.

At the Seagrove Public Library, the Charlotte-based troupe will present Louisa May Alcott’s A Christmas Dream at noon Thursday, December 7thA Christmas Dream is a Christmas Carol-like tale of a young boy who learns that the greatest gifts are not the ones you receive, but the ones you give.

At the Asheboro and Randleman libraries, the company will present ’Twas the Night Before Christmas. Performances will take place at the Asheboro library, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 19th; and at the Randleman library, at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 19th.

This envisioning of the famous verse has author Clement Moore facing a case of writer’s block as he tries to pen a poem about the wonders of Christmas Eve.

Frustratingly funny trials and errors lead him to acting out his ideas with the help of puppets, found objects and friends from the audience. Watch as the magic of this cherished classic unfolds.

The shows are free, and the public is invited.

Bantum Rooster’s Rockin’ Christmas Concert

The City of Asheboro is pleased to announce that the historic Sunset Theatre will be hosting Bantum Rooster’s Rockin’ Christmas! Holiday Concert on Monday, December 18th and on Tuesday, December 19th beginning at 7:00pm. This year’s concert will be full of great Christmas music, fun surprises,
and unbelievable showmanship. The Sunset Theatre is located at 234 Sunset Avenue in downtown Asheboro.

For over a decade, Bantum Rooster has been thrilling audiences across the Carolinas with their over the edge dance and party shows and has become one of the most sought after party bands on the market! Chick-fil-A and Asheboro Cultural & Recreation Services wants to get you in the holiday spirit with the Christmas CAROLing Trolley Tour! This event features a retelling of the Charles Dickens classic “A
Christmas Carol” while singing carols, enjoying games and touring the lights and sights of the downtown Asheboro area onboard our climate controlled Christmas Trolley!

37th Annual CBA Toy Run

December 3 @ 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM – Randolph Mall, Asheboro

Meeting at Randolph Mall parking lot in Asheboro, NC starting at 10am. Leaving at 1:30pm. Ride goes to Mills Children Home in Thomasville, police escorted. The ride is free but please make a monetary donation or bring an unwrapped gift for a boy or girl.

Starworks Unveils Spectacular Glass Artwork at 2023 Holiday Market

A cheerful display of decor at Starworks Holiday Market (Starworks)

Thousands of handblown glass ornaments and seasonal decorations will be on display and available at the Starworks Annual Holiday Market, Dec 2 – 23. Gallery hours are Monday – Saturday 9am-5pm, with special extended hours until 9pm on Fridays & Saturdays in December, plus December 19-23.
Online sales begin Monday, December 4 at 9am via StarworksNC.org.

Every ornament is carefully handcrafted by the artists, interns, and residents at Starworks Glass Studio. In addition to classic round ornaments, enjoy and shop from dazzling stars, pendants, icicles, candy canes, and birds. Artists have also crafted elegant glass angels, snowmen, and tree sculptures, with various styles to choose from. A selection of ornaments and decor titled the “Signature Series” includes limited run, original creations designed by artists from both Starworks Glass and Ceramic Studios. Starworks encourages guests to shop early to choose from some of these exciting one-offs!

Delicious beverages and locally prepared foods are available at the Starworks Café & Taproom; Guests are welcome to sip while they shop from the dazzling displays. Higgins & Son Barbeque Food Truck will be on site opening day, December 2, starting at 10am. Stay late for singer songwriter Pete O’Dea performing LIVE at the Starworks Café & Taproom 7pm-9pm.

Gallery hours are Monday – Saturday 9am-5pm, with special extended hours until 9pm on Fridays & Saturdays in December, plus December 19-23. Starworks Cafe & Taproom is open Monday 9am-3pm, and Tuesday-Saturday 9am-9pm. There is no cost to attend Starworks Holiday Market.

Starworks is a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing high quality educational programming in glass, ceramics, and metal arts. Starworks is host to a public access glass studio, ceramic supply shop, café & taproom, and multiple galleries; All open to the public. Artists worldwide can apply for Starworks internships and residencies that offer space, time, and access to state-of-the-art resources that will aid artists in all stages of their career with advancing their skills and developing a professional network.
Starworks is located at 100 Russell Drive in Star, just off I-73/74 in northern Montgomery County.

Asheboro Mall Celebrates the Holiday Season with Festivities

The Asheboro Mall recently announced festive events and activities happening at the Mall in celebration of the 2023 holiday season. As part of their December to Remember events series, the Mall will be hosting Jolly Jingle Jams and Pictures with Santa.

Jolly Jingle Jams

Jolly Jingle Jams is a new event series aimed at spreading holiday cheer and festivities with local choirs, musicians, dance groups, and more featuring live performances throughout the Mall. Performances will be happening through the entire month of December.
