Broken Down Car Leads To Foot Chase With Police

ASHEBORO NC (RCSO) – On December 31, 2020, while patrolling the area of Old NC Hwy 13 area of Asheboro, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed a vehicle that appeared to be broken down and stopped to render aid. One of the occupants fled from the vehicle on foot and a chase ensued. Additional deputies arrived and detained the other passengers in the vehicle during the investigation. The fleeing suspect was apprehended and identified as Brian Keith Chriscoe who had outstanding warrants for arrest. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was taken before the magistrate where he served with his outstanding Orders for Arrest for Felony Probation Violation and for one for Failure to Appear on Misdemeanor Resisting Public Officer and Driving While License Revoked. He was also charged with Misdemeanor Resisting Public Officer for this incident. He was given a $76,000 secured bond and an unsecured bond of $90,000. A first appearance was set for January 4, 2021, in Randolph County District Court.
Kelly James Maness, passenger, was also arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his Warrants of Arrest for Felony Possession of Heroin, Felony Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia and an Order for Arrest out of New Hanover County for Failure to Appear on charges of Felony Larceny of Property, two counts of Driving While License Revoked and Possession of Open Container/Consumption Alcohol Passenger Area. He was given a $5,800 unsecured bond for Randolph County and a $800 secured bond for New Hanover County charges.
