Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Roy Clay Williams, 54, for murder on Tuesday February 27th, 2024, after responding to a report of gunshots and finding a woman dead at the residence on Clark Avenue in Franklinville. Williams was being held without bond at Randolph County Jail after being booked just before midnight and appeared in Randolph County District Court this morning. February 27th, 2024, was a difficult day, says the Sheriff’s Office. This morning, K9 Ziva and her handler were honored in an End of Watch ceremony with members of the Sheriff’s Office along with the agencies Honor Guard gathered to say goodbye to K9 Ziva before the pair were escorted to the veterinarian’s office. Eastern Randolph High School (Archive Photo / Acme News) RAMSEUR N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating after a firearm was seized from a student at Eastern Randolph High School this morning. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on the morning of February 16th, 2024, it was reported to Eastern Randolph High School’s School Resource Officer that a juvenile student was on campus with a firearm on their person. The School Resource Officer located the juvenile and searched the juvenile locating a firearm, which was secured without incident and was determined to be unloaded. At 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024, Troopers with the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on County Line Road near Oak Tree Lane north-east of the town of Liberty in Alamance County. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police are investigating a fire at an Asheboro home that left one person dead. According to the Asheboro Police Department, on January 23rd, 2024, at around 3:30pm, officers were dispatched to 308 South Park Street at the request of the Asheboro Fire Department. When officers arrived, they learned the victim was sitting in a wheelchair on the front porch of a residence when a fire started in, or around, the wheelchair.  The victim was transported to a local medical facility where he died from his injuries.  Officers identified the individual as Roman Aleksander Stobnicki and say detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the case to determine the origins of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the inciden...

At 3:57 p.m. fire crews from several departments were dispatched to the Worthville Mill, located at 216 Russell Walker Ave in Randleman for a commercial structure fire. Just after 3 a.m. Randolph County 911 dispatched Farmer Fire Department and Ash-Rand Rescue to the intersection of Moore Rd and Old NC Hwy 49 for a report of a vehicle trapped in three feet of water. Dispatch advised a short time later that the call was plotting closer to the intersection of Moore Rd and Golden Meadow Rd. Just before 6 p.m., Randolph County 911 dispatched Westside and Asheboro Fire Departments along with Randolph County EMS to US Hwy 64 W at Mack Rd, for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in front of the Citgo. According to officials with Randolph County EMS, one patient was reported to have sustained critical injuries and was being temporarily transported to Randolph Hospital as emergency crews awaited a helicopter.
