Sheriff’s Office Responds To Armed Robbery

ASHEBORO NC -The Randolph County Sherriff’s Office is asking for help identifying a suspect after an armed robbery on Saturday. 

According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff’s Office, on February 6, 2021, at approximately 8:15 pm, deputies responded to an armed robbery at the GH Mart located at 4960 US Hwy. 220 South. They say a white male subject had entered the business, armed with a long gun and robbed the store at gunpoint. The suspect left on foot walking towards Zoo Parkway. Officials say the suspect was a white male, approximately 6’2”, approximately 160-180 lbs., wearing a black toboggan, dark sunglasses, a white facemask, a white or possibly pink long sleeve button up shirt, khaki colored pants and grey rubber gloves and possibly has a tattoo on the left side of his neck.

UPDATE: 3/3/21 – Detectives with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office are saying their investigation of the GH Mart Robbery, led to them identifying Branson Ray Lambert as a suspect. Police say Lambert is also a suspect in a homicide that occurred in Asheboro following the robbery. On February 7th, 2021, at around 2:16 AM, Asheboro Police Department conducted a search of Lambert’s residence on Farr Street. Police say that search led them to evidence connecting Lambert to the GH Mart robbery.

On March 2, 2021, Branson Lambert was charged with Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and two counts of Felony Second Degree Kidnapping. He was given a $1,000,000 bond and a first appearance on these charges has been set for March 3, 2021, in Randolph County District Court.
