LIBERTY NC.(NC DOT PRESS RELEASE)- State transportation maintenance crews need to close a section of N.C. 49 in Liberty for about two weeks to conduct an emergency replacement of a storm drain.
The drain failed where it passes under the highway near South Valley Street on the eastern side of the town. Starting Monday, traffic will be detoured to follow East Dameron Avenue/Silk Hope Liberty Road, Hinshaw Shop Road and Staley Store Road/Town Country Road to access points on either side of the closure.
Drivers should be mindful of crews working in this area and factor the detour into their commutes.
