ASHEBORO NC – The North Carolina Zoo is hosting several COVID-19 vaccine clinics and anyone who receives their free COVID-19 vaccine at one of the zoo’s clinics will also get a free ticket to the zoo.

The clinics are a collaboration with Randolph County Health Department, Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and StarMed.

Anyone ages 12 and older can get their first or second Pfizer vaccine, and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is available for those 18 and older. No ID or insurance is required, and there are no out-of-pocket costs.

First clinic:

  • Thursday, May 20 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Friday, May 21 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 22 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Second Clinic:

  • Thursday, June 10 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Friday, June 11- 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 12 – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Vaccinations at:

North America Parking Lot D

These vaccine clinics will be walk-in, not drive-through like past clinics. Those getting a vaccine are asked to park and walk up to the clinic’s tents. The clinic will be held in the North America parking lot, Lot D. The address is 4401 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, N.C. 27205.

You may walk up without an appointment or you can make a reservation at https://starmed.care/ or by calling 980-445-9818

A free zoo ticket will be issued when a participant receives a vaccine. If you get the Pfizer vaccine, you will get the ticket after your first shot is given at the zoo’s clinic. If you already had the first Pfizer shot at another clinic but are eligible for the second shot and wish to get it at the zoo’s clinic, you can also get a free zoo ticket.

As of right now, a reservation is still required to enter the zoo. If capacity permits, free tickets can be used on the same day of the clinic on a walk-in basis but only if reservations for that day are not full and the zoo is not at capacity. Free zoo tickets are valid through December 31, 2021, and can not be used for a refund on an existing reservation.
