ASHEBORO NC – A man is in jail today after police say he shot at a car on w Salisbury St in Asheboro over the weekend.

On August 7th, just after 3:45 PM, police received a call about an individual discharging a firearm in the parking lot of Mid Town Dixie located at the corner of Salisbury and Park St in Asheboro. When they arrived, witnesses told the officers a black male had just fired two shots at a black Acura. Police reviewed surveillance video from the business and confirmed the male had fired a weapon in the parking lot. Police say they later located bullet holes in a storage building across the street that formerly housed Hunt Electric Supply.

The suspect was located and arrested walking a short distance from the scene at the intersection of Hoover and Park St. Twenty-year-old Shamon Alan Thomas of Asheboro, was charged with discharging a firearm in city limits, damage to property, simple possession, possession of marijuana paraphilia, possession of drug paraphilia, and felony possession of a Schedule I substance. He is currently being held at the Randolph County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond. Police did not release a motive for the shooting and were not able to locate the Acura that was being shot at.
