Increased Fire Danger Tuesday Warns NWS

Special Weather Statement issued February 20 at 3:04PM EST by NWS Raleigh

…INCREASED FIRE DANGER FOR TUESDAY…

Westerly winds will gust up to 20 to 30 mph across central North Carolina from late morning to early evening Tuesday, while relative humidity is expected to drop to as low as 25 to 35 percent. This combination of gusty winds and low humidity will quickly dry out fuels such as leaves and tree litter. this may lead to adverse fire behavior.

People are encouraged to reconsider conducting burns Tuesday, as fires can quickly spread out of control under these weather conditions. If you do burn, use extreme caution and monitor the situation closely.
