Ready to Fall Back? Daylight Saving Time Ends this Weekend

Daylight Saving Time

ASHEBORO N.C. – Daylight Saving Time for 2022 ends this weekend with clocks set to Fall-Back by one hour giving Americans back the hour of sleep they lost in March, but also brining sunset an hour earlier.

Daylight Saving Time started on March 13th, 2022, when clocks were set an hour forward. Thirty-four weeks later DST is set to end at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6th, 2022. With accurate trimming being necessary for accurate GPS which runs everything from navigation to timing of banking transactions most clocks change their time automatically taking some of the sting out of the change. If you do find yourself needing to change your clocks, rather than waiting until 2:00 A.M., it is recommended to change your clocks before bed on Saturday night.

“This change can present challenges for drivers as it gets darker sooner, so many late afternoon commutes will be at dusk” says the NC Dept of Transportation who issued the following suggestions to be prepared for the change:

⦁ Ensure all your car’s lights, particularly the emergency flashers, are working

⦁ When a car approaches, change your headlights from high to low beam.

⦁ Keep an eye out for deer, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

⦁ Get plenty of sleep and be well rested to avoid driving tired.

Sunshine Protection Act of 2021

On March 16th, of this year the United States Senate unanimously passed the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021 which would eliminate switching of the clocks and make Daylight Saving Time permanent. That bill was sent to the U.S. House of Representees where it is being held and has not yet received a date for a vote. The Biden administration has also not commented on if it would sign the legislation if it passed the house.

An AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll conducted in November of 2021 shows 43% of people want to stay on standard time year-round, 32% prefer to see the clocks remain on daylight saving time permanently. Only 25% percent prefer the current system of shifting back and forth between daylight saving time.

Yes it is Daylight Saving Time, no “S”, don’t believe us, check it out for yourself.
