Court Orders Asheboro Drug Co To Pay $300,000 In Fines & Stop Dispensing Controlled Substances

ASHEBORO N.C. - The U.S. Department of Justice announced that a federal court entered a consent decree with Asheboro Drug preventing the pharmacy from dispensing controlled substances and ordering the business to pay $300,000 in fines. The consent decree, a type of agreement and court order, comes after an investigation found that pharmacists filled prescriptions in violation of the Controlled Substances Act. According to a press release by the DOJ, Asheboro Drug and its pharmacists cooperated with the government’s investigation and agreed to pay the $300,000 civil monetary penalty and be bound by the consent decree of injunction.
