SBI Investigates Inmate Death at Randolph County Jail
ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office along with the SBI is investigating the death of an inmate earlier this month at the Randolph County Jail.
On July 18th, 2022, shortly before 9:00 am, an inmate at the Randolph County Jail was found unresponsive by detention center staff conducting medical rounds.
According to a press release, medical staff and officers performed CPR until EMS arrived. The inmate was transported to Randolph Health where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
The SBI has been notified of the incident and is investigating the death along with the Sheriff's Office’s Criminal Investigations Division.
