ASHEBORO NC – Police arrested a suspect they say robbed a man at gunpoint on the side of the road in Asheboro last week.
Just before noon on Wednesday, August 04th, 2021, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the intersection of Brewer St and Spring St in Asheboro, after getting a call about an armed robbery. According to a police report when officers arrived they spoke with the victim who who told them a black Buick had stopped beside him while he was walking. That’s when the victim said a black male subject got out from the front driver’s side with a small black pistol and put it to his head and stated “don’t move, don’t move or ill kill you.” The victim said the suspect then stole his wallet which had $500 in cash and his debit card, before getting back in the car and speeding off.
Officers say they located that black Buick at 735 Franks St just a short time later and were then able to locate the suspect who was hiding in the residence of 745 Franks St. The suspect was identified as David Snuggs who was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Jail where he was officially charged with robbery and several other charges. Snuggs was issued a $52,500 secured bond and a court date on August 6th, 2021.
