ASHEBORO NC – Tuesday and Wednesday are setting up to be a wet one, thanks to Tropical Storm Fred who’s heading our way.

What remains of Tropical Storm Fred will slowly move through the southeastern part of NC on Tuesday. Fred will bring with it heavy rains up in the mountains, but in the Piedmont we are only expecting a few scattered showers and thunderstorms. Rain and winds may be heavy at times with some possibility of localized severe storms and flooding. Again on Wednesday, the remnants of Fred will keep moving slowly to the northeast as the storms clear out of the area late on Wednesday. Both days you can expect highs in the 80, meaning two muggy days ahead.

Overall heavy rains and localized flooding is likely at times and a slight risk of tornadoes can not be ruled out for Tuesday night. Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon it will be a good idea to stay weather aware. You can get local weather alerts through Randolph County’s REACT system.

If any closings or delays are reported to us we will post them on our website and share them on social media.
