Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrest In Two Different Sex Crime Cases

ASHEBORO NC – The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office announced they made arrest in two cases involving sex crimes against children earlier this month.

According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, the Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received information that an individual by the name of Aaron Lee Barrett was possessing/distributing numerous child pornography files. Detectives initiated an investigation and on September 2, 2021, Mr. Barrett was taken into custody. Barrett was charged with ten counts of Felony Second Degree Exploitation of a Minor. He was given a $80,000 bond and Electronic House Arrest if released pre-trial.

That same week the Sheriff’s Office arrested Jonathan Exiga Aguilar. The Criminal Investigations Division had received information that Aguilar was suspected to have sexually assaulted a female juvenile. Detectives investigated the information and on September 3rd, 2021, Aguilar was charged by with two counts of Felony Statutory Sex Offense with a child 15 or younger, Indecent Liberties with a Child and Felonious Restraint. He was given a $250,000.00 bond.
