Remains Found In Asheboro Home Were Not Human Says SBI

ASHEBORO NC – The SBI crime lab says that results from a bone found in an Asheboro home last week were not human.

According to information released by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on October 30th 2021, their deputies were called to a citizens assist at a home one Grantville Lane in Asheboro. A citizen had found what appeared to be a bone in the subflooring of their home while remodeling and were concerned it was human. Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Investigations responded and collected the object in question which was sent to the SBI lab in Raleigh for analysis and further investigation. On November 3rd, 2021, the SBI results came back and confirmed the object was a bone from a pig. The Sheriff’s office says they have closed the investigation.
