Sheriff’s Office Arrest Two In Seperate Sex Crimes Investigations

ASHEBORO NC – The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office announced today that they have arrested two individuals following investigations into sex crimes against minors.

On October 15, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a tip about Kevin Lee Nunn that said he was receiving and distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material.Deputies along with agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant was executed at Nunn’s home on November 5, 2021.The next day charges were sought for ten counts of Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. On November 7th, 2021, Nunn was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Jail. He was issued a $50,000 secured bond The Sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.

Also on November 7, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office was called to Welborn Rd., in Trinity after they received information about a a sex offense incident involving a minor that had taken place on on Fairwood Dr., Trinity. Deputies arrested James Ray Wright in connection to the crime. He was charged with Felony First Degree Statutory Sex Offense and Felony Indecent Liberties with a Minor and issued a $500,000 secured bond.

Both men had a first appearance on Nov 8th in Randolph County District Court. As of the time of publishing Nunn had been released from the Randolph County Jail while Wright remains in custody.
