ASHEBORO N.C. – A child that was reported abducted is back with her father and the mother is behind bars this afternoon, all thanks to a tip.
On Monday, December 6, 2021, at approximately 10: 30 pm deputies responded to a Missing Person report on an address on Benny Lineberry Rd. in Climax, NC, Matthew Pierce reported that his 1-year-old child, Ava Pierce was taken by her mother, Roxanne Michelle Parson, during a visit on December 1, 2021. Parson’s parental rights had been terminated. An alert was sent out with anyone who had any information asked to call 911, the sheriff’s office or crimestoppers.
The Sheriff’s office says that received a tip on the possible location of Ava Pierce and her mother Roxanne Parsons. That tip led them to the intersection of Berry Ln. and Sussex Trail in Climax where JUST BEFORE 11a.m this morning they pulled over a vehicle they suspected was being used by the mother. When deputies approached the vehicle the Sheriff’s office says the found Parsons and the child who was secured in a child safety seat. Parsons was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Jail where the magistrate served the Warrant for Arrest for Felony Abduction of a Child and issued a $20,000 secured bond.
NC Probation and Parole also obtained a Warrant for Misdemeanor Probation Violation in which she was served and received an additional $10.000 secured bond + Electronic House Arrest. A first appearance was set for December 9, 2021, in Randolph County District Court.
The child has been reunited with her father.
