Scam Alert seemed like the right place to put this even though we’re not 100% sure its a scam, but it is something to be on the look out for.

This post recently appeared on the Asheboro NC yardsale page on Facebook:

That’s a great deal! But wait… Clicking the link take you to a page about Hub Foreclosures as an ad for viewHUDforeclosures.com. That site uses the website name as the company name and the registration data for the domain is private. Those two things combined send up a red flag.

The biggest red flag of all though comes when you do a reverse image search on the photo of that home.

That’s right, the same home is for rent in Roanoke Rapids NC, Middleburg VA, Lowndes County GA, Marshall County TN, and from some relator in TN.

The BBB has no record for any business in the U.S. called viewHUDforeclosures.com,

This is only one of several “homes” that we’ve found that are apart of this scam. so we have three ways to avoid this:

  1. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
  2. If you find a post like this and you want to check it out first, try doing a reverse image search in google of the photos of the home. When the results come up scroll under all the photos to see other websites and facebook pages that are also using that photo.
  3. Don’t give out your banking information or credit or debit card to any site that doesn’t have a real company name you can verify. If you’re going to risk it, we recommend using a service like Privacy.com to create a virtual card where you can control how much is charged to the card and can cancel it at anytime.
