Many of those readers came from Facebook, Instagram, and Google, but the future of local news, like Randolph News Now, is under threat more than ever as Meta the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is threatening to pull news from its platforms if the JCPA becomes law. Pair Arrested After Selling Stolen Trailer On Facebook

ASHEBORO NC - A pair of individuals were arrested after police say they stole a trailer and sold it on Facebook, all because the buyers friend was suspicious. According to the Sheriff's Office, on October 25th, 2021,they responded to Creeks Crossing Rd. after getting a call from a citizen who had become suspicious that a utility trailer he had purchased may be stolen. The buyer told officers that Brandon Edward Fields had messaged him earlier in the day saying that he had a trailer he had acquired as pay for work that he wanted to sell. The victim told police he met Fields and another subjects and bought the trailer. Liberty Police Facebook Page Gets ‘Depublished’ Without Warning

The Town of Liberty announced the news on their Facebook page on Wednesday October 13th 2021. The post said that Facebook removed the page for “violation of community standards” and that Facebook has “refused to tell the Police Department exactly why the page had been depublished”. Staff at Acme News confirmed the outage by trying to access the sites from multiple devices on different internet connections. Down Detector is showing multiple sites down as of 1PM and many other websites are reporting issues as well.
