ASHEBORO N.C. – Asheboro Police are investigating after an altercation led to shots being fired on Martin Luther King Jr Drive striking at least one vehicle and a home.
A police report from the Asheboro Police Department shows that on January 10th 2022, at 5:07 P.M. officers responded to the 900 block of Martin Luther King Jr Dr after getting calls about multiple shots fired in the area. A total of 6 officers with both the Patrol and Special Enforcement Team (SET) responded to the area. The individuals involved had fled the area, police were able to locate damage to a nearby vehicle and house.
“From all indications it appears that occupants in a vehicle parked in the vicinity of 906 Martin Luther King Jr Drive got into a verbal altercation with the occupants in a small black vehicle that was driving on Spring Street,” said Robbie Brown, Assistant Chief of Police for the Asheboro Police Department. Brown says witnesses in the area indicated both vehicles were firing at each other, however no injures were reported. The departments Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) were able to collect shell casings as well bullet fragments from the scene. The case is being investigated the Criminal Investigations Division.
