ASHEBORO N.C. – The Asheboro Police Department announced today in a press release that they are investigating a fight that broke out at Lucky’s Burger N Tap last weekend.
The fight took place Sunday night/Monday morning sometime after 1am at the Asheboro bar and restaurant. The ordeal was captured on video and later posted on Facebook. Broken up into stories with some posted out of order, the video shows how the fight starts as well as the fight itself and the aftermath of broken glass and knocked over tables and chairs. Since being posted on Jan 24th 2022 the video has been share almost 20,000 times with over 1,400 comments and reactions.
Officers with the Asheboro Police Department did respond that night after an employee from Lucky’s called 911 to report the fight. At the time the call came in (at around 01:50 am) the fight had already ended and arriving officers found nothing out of the ordinary according to a press release. No report was filed at the time.
What we are learning today from the press release is that the day after the fight, on January 24th, 24-year-old Fernando Guzman Martinez of Asheboro went to the Asheboro Police Department and reported that he was assaulted and had personal items stolen during the fight. The press release says that Martinez’s account given to investigators “matches the videos that were posted on social media of the incident”.
The Asheboro Police Department says the incident is under investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division and is asking anyone with information to contact Detective Burnette at 336-626-1300 ext 312.
UPDATE FEB 10th 2021 3:00 pm – Today the Asheboro police department announced they have charged seven individuals in connection with the fight at Lucky’s Burger N Tap back on January 23rd 2022, with an additional individual being charged by NC ALE. The individuals charged are:
