Weather Whiplash | NWS Calls for 60s Saturday, Snow Sunday

[RNN] – The old joke about “If you don’t like the weather in North Carolina just wait a little bit” is an old one, but it’s stayed around because it’s true and this weekend is going to be the perfect example of that.

During the day Saturday the weather is going to be perfect for going out with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-to-upper 60s. That will last all day until a cold front begins to cross the Piedmont Saturday night dropping temperatures to around 37°F and bringing with it some lite sprinkles, changing to rain after 1 am.

Sunday is going to be the opposite of Saturday with temperatures not moving from their overnight low of 37°F and rain is the morning turning to a mix of rain and snow continuing all day and through the night as temperatures drop further to the high 20’s.

Thankfully with warmer ground temperatures no significant snow accumulation is expected with the National Weather Service Office in Raleigh forecasting less than 1/2 inch total accumulation for the triad.

If you not a fan of cold, rain, and flurries, just wait. While Monday will stay cold sunny conditions will finally return and temperatures will return back to normal (low 50s) by Tuesday.
