ASHEBORO N.C. – A man who shot into a house from a stolen vehicle last month was recently arrested and charged with a felony.
On January 20, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Bingham Loflin Rd. in Asheboro for a shooting into a residence. Deputies say they located a bullet hole on the west side of the home which faced Bingham Loflin Rd and that bullet had made it through the wall and into the home.
Crime Scene Investigations collected evidence from the scene. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office received a description of the vehicle and after learning that vehicle was taken without permission they say they were able to identify Dustin Wayne Bailey as a suspect.
Police located that stolen vehicle at a residence on Lassiter Mill Rd. in Asheboro, but the suspect was not located in the area. The vehicle was towed to the Sheriff’s Office for CSI to look at and the owner notified.
The Sheriff’s Office went to the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest for Bailey for the charge of Felony Discharge Weapon into Occupied Property.
Bailey was located on February 2nd 2022, and was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Jail. A first appearance was set for February 4, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
