Fight Between Employees at Asheboro Wendy’s Ends With Both Stabbed

ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS)– Police say a fight between employees at the Asheboro Wendy’s ended with both employees stabbing one another, triggering a lockdown at the nearby high-school and middle school.

According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, on May 16, 2022, at 10:22 am, officers and first responders were dispatched to a stabbing at Wendy’s, located at 623 West Dixie Drive Asheboro.

According to the police department the incident started as a fight between two employees, which resulted in both employees stabbing one another. Taylor Shawn Tucker, 22-year-old, was still on scene when officers arrived. He was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of a stab wound.

Initial information from witnesses suggested that the suspect fled the scene on foot. As a precaution, officers notified the SROs at Asheboro High School and South Asheboro Middle School, since both schools are in close proximity to Wendy’s. The school administration decided to issue a shelter in place order.

An additional witness later indicated the suspect was driving a gold Toyota passenger car that left the area in a careless and reckless manner.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect vehicle in Randleman and performed a traffic stop. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and transported to a local medical facility for treatment of a stab wound.

The shelter in place was then lifted at AHS and SAMS. The name of the suspect is not available at this time.

Editor’s Note: The original press release from the Asheboro Police Department identified the middle school that went to a shelter in place as NAMS (North Asheboro Middle School), the correct middle school was SAMS (South Asheboro Middle School). We have no information that NAMS went into shelter in place.
