ASHEBORO N.C. – Investigators with the Asheboro Police Department spent the night piecing together what led to shots being fired at Frazier Park last night.
On August 1st, 2022, just after 10pm, patrol officers with the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to Frazier Park, located at 517 West Wainman Avenue, after receiving a call about shots fired in the area.
When officers arrived, they located a juvenile and a male identified as Heleodoro Juarez-Garcia in the park. Mr. Garcia reported he was driving his Ford Pickup west on Wainman Avenue when the truck was struck by a bullet. Mr. Garcia told police he stopped his vehicle and walked into the park where he located the juvenile.
The juvenile explained to the officers on scene that he was in the park with a friend when they were confronted by three black men, one of the which was armed with a rifle. The group of men attempted to rob the juvenile, and his friend, firing several rounds into the ground near them.
Detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Scene Investigators, and officers on the scene were able to collect spent shell casings from the area. They also found blood which they were able to follow to another address on West Wainman Avenue. At the location officers say they located Joseph Warren Armfield who had a gunshot wound to his lower leg. Mr. Armfield was uncooperative with officers and refused treatment.
