One Arrested in Monday Night Shooting in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. – One person is in jail after Asheboro Police were called to a report of a shooting in an Asheboro neighborhood late Monday night.

On April 24th, 2023, at around 10:30 pm, officers responded to a home on Chestnut St for a report of gun shots being heard in the area. While officers were responding Randolph County 911 reported they were taking a call for a possible gunshot wound from the same incident.

When officers arrived on scene, they saw a suspect walking next to the roadway holding a handgun in their right-hand walking away from the scene of the shooting. That suspect was identified as Michael Flores in a police report.

Police held Flores at gunpoint and ordered him to drop the firearm. Flores complied and was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Jail where he was charged with multiple felonies.

No one was injured in the shooting. Flores remains confined at the Randolph County Jail on a $500,000 secure bond.
