ASHEBORO N.C. – On person has been transported to the hospital in serious condition after being shot earlier this afternoon in a neighborhood near Sunset Ave in Asheboro.
According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, on April 11th, 2023, at 12:58 PM, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the Quick Check at 509 Sunset Avenue in reference to a victim on the sidewalk of the store suffering from a small caliber gunshot wound to the lower torso.
Randolph County EMS and Asheboro Fire/Rescue Department responded to the scene and the victim was transported to an out of county medical facility by Randolph County EMS for further medical treatment.
Police identified that victim as 26 year-old Tevin Javae Isley. His injuries were described as serious by officials as of the time of this article.
Police say detectives determined that the incident did not occur at the business, but in a nearby residential area, and is an isolated incident.
Persons of interest have been identified in the investigation as a result of further interviews by detectives.
