Fire at Asheboro Home Leaves One Dead, Police Say

ASHEBORO N.C. – Police are investigating a fire at an Asheboro home that left one person dead.

According to the Asheboro Police Department, on January 23rd, 2024, at around 3:30pm, officers were dispatched to 308 South Park Street at the request of the Asheboro Fire Department.

When officers arrived, they learned the victim was sitting in a wheelchair on the front porch of a residence when a fire started in, or around, the wheelchair. 

The victim was transported to a local medical facility where he died from his injuries. 

Officers identified the individual as Roman Aleksander Stobnicki and say detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the case to determine the origins of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
