ASHEBORO — An Asheboro man has been charged and arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run earlier this month on I-73 near Greensboro. Around 7:30 a.m. on April 17th, 2024, the State Highway Patrol responded to a crash on I-73 south, near West Steeple Chase Road in Guilford County. According to the Highway Patrol, 55-year-old Clyde Strickland, of Raeford, N.C. was walking south on I-73 when he was struck by a vehicle. On Monday, April 22nd, the Highway Patrol was notified by medical staff that Strickland had succumbed to injuries. ASHEBORO — The North Carolina Highway Patrol is searching for a suspect involved in a fatal hit and run last week. Around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 17th, 2024, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on I-73 south, near West Steeple Chase Road in Guilford County. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police are investigating a fire at an Asheboro home that left one person dead. According to the Asheboro Police Department, on January 23rd, 2024, at around 3:30pm, officers were dispatched to 308 South Park Street at the request of the Asheboro Fire Department. When officers arrived, they learned the victim was sitting in a wheelchair on the front porch of a residence when a fire started in, or around, the wheelchair.  The victim was transported to a local medical facility where he died from his injuries.  Officers identified the individual as Roman Aleksander Stobnicki and say detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the case to determine the origins of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the inciden...

ASHEBORO N.C. - A crash this morning has left one dead after a driver crashed head-on into another vehicle while traveling the wrong way on I-73/74. At approximately 10:10 AM, on January 31, 2023, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to reports of traffic crash on I-73 North of McDowell Road. Callers reported seeing a white Nissan Frontier traveling North in the Southbound Lane of I-73 immediately before the crash. When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they discovered that the Nissan Frontier had struck a Toyota Tacoma that was traveling Southbound. ASHEBORO N.C. - Last night deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal stabbing at a home in Thomasville. On March 29, 2022, at around 10:00 pm, the deputies were called to a home on Reddy Foxx Ln. in Thomasville after getting a call about a stabbing. Police say when they arrived the located a man on the porch of the home suffering from stab wounds. The victim, who police identified as Randy Hunt, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
