Traffic Stops Finds Wanted Man, Drugs, and Gun

ASHEBORO NC – Police say the found drugs and a gun in the vehicle of a man with active warrants during a traffic stop near Asheboro last week.

According to information from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on August 27th, 2021 deputies were called to assist the NC Highway Patrol. Troopers had pulled over a vehicle on I-73/74 near the Spero Rd. exit. Police say they identified the driver as Brandon Jamal Weaks. Police searched the vehicle and say the located marijuana, schedule II controlled substances, paraphernalia and a firearm. Weaks was placed under arrest and a check through Randolph County 911 found that Weaks had and Outstanding Order for Arrest for Failure to Appear out of Guilford County.

Weaks was transported to the Randolph County Jail where he went before the magistrate who found probable cause to charge Weaks with Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and two counts Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia and issued a $1,000 secured bond for same. He was also served his Outstanding Order for Arrest and was given an additional $1,000 secured bond for that case.
