Head On Collision Claims the Life of Franklinville Resident [UPDATED]

FRANKLINVILLE N.C. - A head on collision on US 64 claimed the life of a Franklinville resident on Wednesday afternoon. Just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, emergency crews responded to a vehicle crash on US 64 near Iron Mountain Road. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Wanda Cox Allred, 74, of Franklinville, N.C., was traveling west on US 64 operating a 2019 Honda CR-V when a driver of a 2006 Mercedes Benz crossed the centerline, striking her vehicle head-on. Allred died on-scene. The driver of the Mercedes Benz suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Randolph County 911 received the first call about the accident at 1:19 PM on Nov 1st 2021. Callers reported a single vehicle accident on Covered Bridge Rd near Harris Rd in Trinity. They told dispatchers that a car had flipped over and was smoking. The sole occupant of the vehicle was a pregnant female who was able to safely get out. ASHEBORO NC - Police say the found drugs and a gun in the vehicle of a man with active warrants during a traffic stop near Asheboro last week. According to information from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on August 27th, 2021 deputies were called to assist the NC Highway Patrol. Troopers had pulled over a vehicle on I-73/74 near the Spero Rd. exit. Police say they identified the driver as Brandon Jamal Weaks. Police searched the vehicle and say the located marijuana, schedule II controlled substances, paraphernalia and a firearm. Weaks was placed under arrest and a check through Randolph County 911 found that Weaks had and Outstanding Order for Arrest for Failure to Appear out of Guilford County. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC - Today we learned that a Christmas wreath was likely to blame for 3 car accident on I-73/74 that shutdown the highway last weekend, causing congestion on US 220 from Randleman to Asheboro. According to a report by the North Carolina Highway Patrol all three vehicles involved were traveling northbound on I-73. The driver of the lead vehicle slowed down, due to a Christmas wreath in the roadway. The car behind failed to reduce speed and collided with rear passenger side of the first car. ASHEBORO NC – A local man is facing felony charges after crashing a car into his ex's car several times and fleeing the scene.The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says on July 11th, 2021, they were asked by Troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol to respond to the area of Old Farmer Road and Oakgrove Road, in Asheboro. Troopers were on the scene of an accident/hit-and-run that had occurred earlier during a domestic confrontation. ASHEBORO NC - An Asheboro man is facing a long list of charges after a traffic stop for a possible DUI where police say they found evidence connecting him to several other crimes in the stolen car he was driving.  According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office on May 23, 2021, shortly after midnight, the deputies responded to Oakland Ave in Asheboro after receiving a call about a breaking/entering that had occurred earlier. The deputies met with the victim who gave them a list of missing items which included several banking cards.
