ASHEBORO NC – The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has placed a decal in the hood of two of two if’s patrol vehicles and the rear window of another in the memory of Sandy Bradshaw as well all the brave first responders who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks on Sept 11th.
Thirty-eight year old Sandy Waugh Bradshaw, was a native of Climax, North Carolina. Bradshaw was an American flight attendant on board United Airlines Flight 93 during the September 11th attacks. Passengers and crew on the plane learned that planes had crashed into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Bradshaw told her husband that she and other flight attendants were boiling water to toss on the hijackers, before telling him she had to go and that passengers were rushing first class. The passenger revolt led the hijackers to crash the plane into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, killing all onboard. The 9/11 Commission Report speculated that the intended target was either the White House or the U.S. Capitol Building. The passengers and crew were nominated and received the Congressional Gold Medal for their actions that day.
During the September 11 attacks in 2001, 2,977 people were killed, and the landscape of the United States was changed forever. “Let us never forget the sacrifice that all first responders made that day, and remember that all gave some and some gave all,” said Sheriff Greg Seabolt in a video on Facebook.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has arranged a showing of the vehicles with Sandy Waugh Brandshaw’s name on them Tuesday morning at Eastern Randolph High School, at 8:30 AM, with Sandy’s mom, Pat Waugh, planning to be present. They have also been invited to be present on Friday, September 10t, 2021, as ERHS recognizes the 20th anniversary of 9/11 at their annual ceremony.
The decals were donated by Beane Signs as well as being sponsored by East Coast Tactical and an anonymous donor.
