ASHEBORO NC – The Randolph County Sherriff’s Office arrested two burglary suspects red handed, one who was stealing from an home as family members hid in a bedroom and another who robbed the same home several times.
On October 16, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Burglary in Progress on Hawthorne Dr. in Asheboro. The deputies located the suspect still inside the residence. They ordered him to come out and upon leaving the house, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested. The victims were located un-harmed in a locked bedroom. Deputies found a broken window where they say the the suspect entered the home.
The Sheriffs office identified the suspect as Raymond Schofield Hyatt. He was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail where he was charged with Felony First Degree Burglary, Misdemeanor Resisting Public Officer and Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property. He was issued a $25,000 secured bond. Hyatt was also served with two Orders for Arrest for Failure to Appear and received an additional $11,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for October 18, 2021, in Randolph County District Court.
In a second case, On October 13, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Westchapel Rd. in Asheboro, for a call about a burglary of a home that had already occurred. Deputies found that someone had broken into the home and taken several items. Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) and Detectives came out to collect evidence and investigate further.
The next day on October 14th,, the Sheriff’s Office was called back out to the same home on Westchapel Road. When they arrived they found a vehicle sitting in the driveway that matched the description given by a witnesses the previous day. The deputy also saw that the door to the home was open and while approaching a male they identified as Charles Kevin Satterfield walked out of the house and was placed under arrest. The homeowner arrived and while looking through the home found a book bag that didn’t belong to them. Police say a search of that book bag led them to discover it contained several items that had been stolen during the prior incident including a set of keys that had been taken the day before. Detectives and CSI returned and collected new evidence and Satterfield was transported to the Randolph County jail where he was taken before the magistrate and charged with two count Felony Breaking and/or Entering, two counts Felony Larceny After Breaking/Entering, two counts Felony Possession of Stolen Goods/Property. He was issued a $7,500 secured bond and had a first appearance last friday in Randolph County District Court.
