ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) – Two people had to be airlifted from Randolph Hospital overnight following a Shooting on Cedar Falls Rd in Asheboro.
According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, last night at around 11:40pm officers from the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to 1012 Cedar Falls Road in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived they located a male victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound in a small building behind the residence. The male who police identified as 29-year-old Randy Christopher Brower of Kernersville was taken to Randolph Hospital by Randolph County EMS. A second male who also sustained a gunshot wound, arrived at Randolph Hospital in a private vehicle. Police identified that male as 27-year-old Jordan Lee Blackwell of Asheboro.
Both men were airlifted by UNC Air Care and Baptist Air Care shortly after arriving at Randolph Hospital. The Emergency Room itself went into lockdown for several hours after a crowd started to gather outside the entrance. Officers with the Asheboro Police Department as well as deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s office responded to the hospital to help control the crowd.
Today, Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at approximately 1pm detectives secured warrants for the arrest of an individual related to this incident. They identified Joel Demandrae Thompson from Pleasant Garden as the suspect and say he has been was arrested and charged with Felonious Attempted Murder and Felonious Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill or Inflicting Serious Injury. He is currently at the Randolph County Jail under a $750,000.00 secured bond.
