ASHEBORO N.C. – This week family, friends, and fellow co-worker are mourning the loss of Joey Thompson, who passed away peacefully at High Point Regional Hospital on Monday January 24th 2022, after a long and hard fight, with COVID-19. Thompson began working at the Randolph County 9-1-1 center in 2013 where he was known for his unique deep voice and playful sense of humor.
Due to COVID restrictions the family decided to do a virtual service so all may honor him. The family respectfully ask that in lieu of flowers, money be sent to Caleb Thompson, his 9-year-old son in order to help with his education. . Please make out all donations to First National Bank C/O Belinda Culler savings on behalf of Caleb Thompson.

Today, we mourn the loss of a dear friend and co-worker. Joey Thompson became a part of our family when he began working in our 9-1-1 center in 2013. His unique deep voice, wonderful sense of humor and thoughtfulness will be greatly missed. In addition to being an awesome 9-1-1 Telecommunicator, Joey never met a stranger and has hundreds, if not thousands, of friends to prove it. His love for his son is beyond measure. His love for his family, friends and community was unwavering. We are grateful he is no longer suffering, and in knowing that he’s in a much better place. Our thoughts and continued prayers are with his family and friends.
