According to an online press release, on January 29th, 2023, the Sheriff Office's Criminal Investigations Division was called to investigate vandalism that occurred at the Randolph County Courthouse on Salisbury Street in Asheboro. Video surveillance of the incident captured the perpetrator, described as a black male, wearing black in color pants, a gray sweatshirt, red sneakers/boots, and a tan in color toboggan throwing rocks through several of the windows. The co-location of Kintegra Family Dentistry within the RCPH building brings increased access to underserved children in Randolph County. On a post on the Town's Facebook page on January 31st, 2023, officials say in the next week they will be installing speed bumps on Wright Street and Liberty Street (Coleridge Rd to Jordan Rd portion). "We hope this will control the issues of speeding on these Town Streets." says the post.

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office has made two arrests in two separate cases after receiving information regarding allegations of sexual offenses involving minors. On January 13th, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Detectives brought charges against Bernard Joseph McSweeney for four counts of felony disseminating obscenities. ASHEBORO N.C. - A traffic stop in Asheboro last week discovered evidence of a robbery and led to the arrest of a driver and a passenger. On January 18, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Doris Acres St. near Grantville Ln., in Asheboro. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, during a search of the vehicle, deputies located paraphernalia and US Currency along with an empty Domino’s Pizza deposit bag in the possession of one of the passengers, identified as Stephanie Nichole Langley. During the investigation, deputies discovered that the bag belonged to Dominos in Robbins. The Robbins Police Department was contacted and reported that a larceny had been reported by that business. U.S. 421 to be Resurfaced in Portion of Randolph County

ASHEBORO N.C. - The North Carolina Department of Transportation has announced a $6.2 million contract has been awarded to bring improvements to nearly 15 miles of U.S. 421 in Chatham and Randolph counties. Under the contract companies will be preforming milling, resurfacing and shoulder reconstruction along both directions of U.S. 421 South between the Chatham County line and U.S. 64. Northbound and southbound ramps at exits 180 (Piney Grove Church Road), 181 (N.C. 49), and 183 (Old Liberty Road) will also be improved under the project. The work can start as soon as March 1 and wrap up in the fall of 2024.

The juvenile was experiencing an emotional crisis and threatening to jump off of a bridge near her home. Telecommunicator Cheyanne Allred remained calm and professional during the entire thirteen-minute call. The juvenile female was distraught and crying and during the phone call, she made additional comments that sitting on that ledge was “peaceful” and made additional threats to jump. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver is facing felony charges after police say while intoxicated, he fired a shot at the victim's car before ramming it several feet. On January 13th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an incident on US 220business just south of McDowell Road after a caller reported an armed person. Upon arrival, deputies met with the caller who said he had been the victim of a road rage incident where his vehicle was shot at before being rammed by another driver. On January 10th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office SRO responded after staff at Ramseur Elementary School reported an irate parent at the school. While the SRO was responding, Randolph County 911 received a call where the caller claimed that someone had fired a weapon into the school. According to the Sheriff's Office, the SRO arrived and parked in front of the door and was met by the irate parent, who they identified as Brittany Desha Andrews. ASHEBORO N.C. - A stranded motorist and a driver were taken to the hospital yesterday after the driver crashed into a disabled vehicle on US 311. At 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 311 near Banner Whitehead Road in Randolph County. According to a press release from the NC Highway Patrol, William Greenleaf Golden's 2003 Dodge Durango SUV had become disabled due to an electrical malfunction and was parked partially in the southbound lane of US 311. Graciela Nieblas Jimenez, 59, of Thomasville, N.C., was traveling southeast on US 311 in a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.
