Credit Terry Duncan (Facebook) ASHEBORO N.C. - A man was arrested after being caught breaking and entering into a garage in Sophia and the homeowner got photos of the arrest. On May 21, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hillsdale Park Drive, in Sophia, after getting a call about a breaking and entering in progress. The caller told 911 a male subject, who arrived on a moped, was inside the garage. When deputies arrived they saw the suspect attempting to start the moped. The Sheriff's Office says when they approached the suspect he refused to obey verbal commands and attempted to drive away on the moped. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. According to the NC Highway Patrol, just before 2 am on May 20th 2022, Troopers were called to a single vehicle accident on US Hwy 64 near Mount Shepherd Rd. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Juan De Medina-Garcia of Asheboro, was traveling west on US Hwy 64 when he went off the right side of the roadway, over corrected, before traveling off the road on the left side of the roadway and overturning. Medina-Garcia sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by EMS to Moses Cone Hospital. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office announced that an investigation into meth distribution in Randleman led to them seizing a large quantity of drugs and charging a local man with multiple counts of felony trafficking. According to a press release, on May 10th 2022, detectives, along with the Criminal Interdiction Team, executed a search warrant at a home on Cecil Norman Rd. in Randleman. According to the Sheriff's Office during that search warrant detectives located and seized approximately 315.5 grams of Heroin, approximately 2,101.1 grams (4.6 pounds) of Methamphetamine, approximately 74.8 grams of Cocaine, approximately 338 grams of Marijuana and approximately 10.3 grams of Mushrooms. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local woman was arrested after police say she was possibly attempting to sell narcotics at a local high school. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on April 27th, 2022, School Resource Officer received information that a female was possibly attempting to sell narcotics in the parking lot of Wheatmore High School. Deputies located the female, whom they was identified as Tracy Boone Peele. The Sheriff's Office says their investigation revealed that Peele was in possession of narcotics packaged for sell. ASHEBORO N.C. - Asheboro police are investigating two calls for discharging firearms, including one where two vehicles were struck last Sunday and Monday. On April 24th 2022 just before 5 pm, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to Walnut St for a call about shots fired in the area. According to a report officers secured and searched the area but were unable to locate a suspect or victim. A witness on scene told police the incident had happened an hour prior and police ended up taking a report for documentation. The next day on April 25th 2022, at around 6:20 pm, officers were called to Loach st on the eastside of the city. Monday- Friday, the ACS Food Truck will be posted at Franklin Village from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. and then it will travel to Coleridge Road Apartments from 12:30 - 1 p.m.Please note - Due to federal mandates, all meals are to be eaten at the Food Truck. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two separate homeowners caught burglary suspects red handed before they tried to flee and were arrested by police. On April 18, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to McNeal St, in Asheboro for a report of a burglary in progress. Deputies say when they arrived the victim reported they arrived home to find a female inside the master bedroom of the home. The female suspect, whom the Sheriff’s Office identified as Traci Underwood Andrews, reportedly jumped from the bedroom window and fled on foot to ablack truck and tried to drive off through the yard but wrecked in a ditch on McMasters St. Police say they located the vehicle with Andrews still sitting inside.
