Vehicle Chase End In Crash On Hwy 62

Photo by Scott Pelkey / Acme News Archive ASHEBORO NC - A wanted suspect was arrested following a vehicle chase than ended in a crash on Hwy 62 over the weekend. According to information from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on October 2, 2021, a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle on Hwy 311 near Shean Dr in Archdale. Police say the driver immediately sped off starting a vehicle pursuit. The chase left 311 on to Tom Hill Rd then on to Trinity Rd. and NC HWY 62. That's when police say the driver lost control of the vehicle near the 5200 block of NC HWY 62 leaving the roadway and colliding with trees. The North Carolina Zoo will host their annual Halloween event “Boo at the NC Zoo” two weekends in October this year. Boo will be held Saturdays and Sundays on Oct. 16, 17, 23, and 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all days. Boo at the NC Zoo is a family-friendly daytime event and socially distanced for everyone's fun and safety. There will be trick-or-treating at stations throughout the park, a souvenir bag, live entertainment, animal encounters, Halloween-themed photos, and costume contests. Two Suspects Facing Murder Charges

ASHEBORO NC – Three people are in jail this morning, two of them facing murder charges in connection with a body that was found in a wooded area in Asheboro earlier this month. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at approximately 10:27 PM, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Burns Street for a possible deceased person. When officers arrived they located a deceased male in a wooded area. Detectives were called to the scene and began an investigation. ASHEBORO NC (CITY OF ASHEBORO) - United Way of Randolph County, in partnership with the City of Asheboro and the North Carolina Department of Commerce Rural Economic Development Division, is pleased to announce a program to provide temporary rent, mortgage or utility payment assistance to households who have suffered economic hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding for the program was made available through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and the federal CARES Act of 2020. Armed Altercation Triggers School Lockdown

ASHEBORO - An altercation on Albemarle Road involving a gun triggered a lock down at two Asheboro schools. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at approximately 2:25 PM, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the 500 block of Albemarle Road after receiving a call about an armed person. The callers reported an altercation between multiple people, with at least one who was armed with a handgun. Local Man Arrested For Sex Crimes After Runaway Child Found With Him

ASHEBORO NC - A local man is in jail under a one million dollar bond after Investigators with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office say he was found with a missing/runaway child and child pornography. According to a press release by the The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, their Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a tip that an individual by the name of Ethan William Colbert was distributing child pornography and that he was engaged in sexual relationships with juvenile females. On August 16th, 2021, Deputies received a call about a missing/runaway child. The Sheriff’s office says that the child was located with Colbert.
