First Baptist Church is excited to partner with North Carolina Baptists on Mission to offer free health and dental screenings to individuals across the community who may be uninsured or underinsured. The one-day event will take place on Saturday, February 17 on the campus of First Baptist Church Asheboro, 133 N. Church Street, in downtown.
“We are really excited for an opportunity to love on our community,” said event coordinator, Amy Barney. “By offering these free screenings, our goal is to not only get people the medical attention they need, but also to build relationships by sharing the love of Jesus,” she added.
Mobile health and dental buses will be onsite at FBC Asheboro, thanks to a partnership with NC Baptists on Mission. In addition to screenings, FBC Asheboro will also be providing both breakfast and lunch, allowing usage of the church’s shower facilities, providing care bags, and praying for and with attendees. Both the NC Baptists on Mission mobile units will be staffed with licensed professionals from various dental and medical offices from our community. Health services will include vitals assessments, Body Mass Index (BMI) calculations, and screenings for diabetes, cholesterol, depression, and heart disease. Also, eye screening equipment will be available upon request. Those needing dental services may be seen by one of two dentists on site, or register for a dental cleaning. Services will be provided to individuals 18 years and older. Appointments are available starting at 8 a.m. and the last appointment is at 4:40 p.m. The event also welcomes walk-ins, but appointments are subject to availability.
