ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office has placed a decal in the hood of two of two if’s patrol vehicles and the rear window of another in the memory of Sandy Bradshaw as well all the brave first responders who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks on Sept 11th. Bradshaw was an American flight attendant on board United Airlines Flight 93 during the September 11th attacks. Passengers and crew on the plane learned that planes had crashed into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. RALEIGH NC (NC DOT) – As motorists hit the road this busy Labor Day weekend, law enforcement officers from Murphy to Manteo will be stepping up enforcement through patrols and checkpoints to keep impaired drivers off the roads. The statewide “Booze It & Lose It” Labor Day campaign, sponsored by the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program, runs through Sept. 12 and involves all law enforcement agencies, including local police, sheriff’s offices and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Last year, participating agencies cited nearly 1,400 DWI offenders in North Carolina. The short flight took the drone from one portion of the hospital to another. Any student who was enrolled at the College between March 13, 2020 (the start of the COVID-19 pandemic) until the end of the Summer 2021 semester was eligible for the assistance. In addition to paying off outstanding student account balances, RCC has been able to help students through the pandemic by providing emergency financial assistance for such needs as food, housing, laptops, and internet access. The city says some customers may initially detect a slight increase in chlorine taste or smell as the switchover in treatment processes occurs. Deputy Baker / Randolph County Sheriffs Office ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that for the first time in the agency's history a female deputy has joined SERT-Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team. SERT is a life-saving unit of highly trained officers who deal with the most dangerous criminals and situations according to the Sheriff's Office. The unit is essentially a Special Weapons & Tactics (SWAT) team, which has the toughest performance standards, with members expected to be able to respond and operate in a variety of high-risk/high-stress situations such as high-risk search warrants and armed and barricaded subjects. (RCSO) - Community leaders, citizens and law enforcement representatives are invited to attend an open house for the jail expansion at 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 27. Tours of the expansion, led by staff members, will be offered to all citizens until 5:00 p.m. Citizens will not come in contact with anyone currently confined at the facility.The jail expansion was approved to address inmate overcrowding and the ultimate need for additional, individual cells to better manage the inmate population. ASHEBORO NC - Over the weekend, in a now-deleted Facebook post, Erick Hicks, a potential candidate for Randolph County Sherriff in 2022, called for federal immigration agents to come to the protests being held for at Asheboro High School.  Those protest were in support of Ever Lopez, a student who was at the the center of a viral controversy after he was denied his diploma by Asheboro High School for wearing a Mexican flag at the graduation ceremony. Protest were held over the weekend ending Monday afternoon when Lopez walked out of a meeting at the school, diploma in hand. Department of Transportation is urging teens to slow down, avoid distractions when driving, and buckle up because this is the deadliest time of year for teen drivers. Memorial Day starts the 100 deadliest days of the year for teenage drivers.
