LIBERTY N.C. -  Several law enforcement agencies as part of the Invictus Project Task Force arrested a Greensboro man who allegedly traveled to Liberty to meet a child. According to a report from the department on the afternoon of December 24th, 2023, an officer was called to the Asheboro Wal-Mart. A loss prevention officer told the officers that the day prior two unidentified black males had come into the store and taken two televisions without paying. In photos released on Facebook one of the suspects can be seen in a traffic vest pushing TVs in a car through the store. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man was arrested earlier this week after the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says he attempted to use flashing red and blue lights to pull over a vehicle in Asheboro. On December 20th, 2023, deputies responded to Meadowbrook Rd. in Asheboro. A caller reported that they had been followed by a vehicle flashing blue and red lights that they did not believe was a law enforcement vehicle.  According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies located the vehicle and identified the driver as Dennis Charles Richardson. ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect wanted by the Sheriff’s Office in connection with a vehicle theft earlier this year has been extradited from Kansas back to Randolph County to face several charges.  On July 23rd, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old Cedar Falls Rd, in Randleman, for a reported vehicle theft.  An investigation led to charges being sought against Braxton Lee Trogon for felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen goods/property, and felony extortion. ASHEBORO N.C. - A convicted felon with a shotgun strapped to his motorcycle was arrested after crashing into a patrol vehicle earlier this week, according to police.  On December 5th, 2023, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was on a call on Clifton Dr. in Archdale. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, a motorcycle traveling south on Clifton Drive with no headlights struck the deputies patrol vehicle in the rear.  The operator, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Thurman Earl Sampson, came to rest in front of the vehicle and was evaluated by Randolph County EMS.  While inspecting the damage to the vehicles, the deputy located a shotgun strapped on the motorcycle, and discovered that Sampson, the driver, is a convicted felon.  ...

According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on November 26th, 2023, deputies responded to a reported robbery on NC Hwy 134, in Asheboro. The victim told investigators that he was asked by someone he knew to meet in the parking lot of a business and that when he arrived, he was robbed by two males and two females. The victim also reported that one of the male suspects fired a single round from a handgun at him during the robbery. ASHEBORO N.C. - The U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina has charged an Asheboro man with possession of a machine gun. According to court documents, 23-year-old, Keandre Baretta Legrand, of Randolph County, was charged today with unlawful possession of a machine gun and illegal possession of a firearm by a felon stemming from an incident which occurred on September 13th, 2022.  That case is being investigated by the Asheboro Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Mary Ann Courtney. ASHEBORO N.C. - This month the Randolph County Grand Jury handed down indictments for a local woman on several drug and trafficking charges. During the November 2023 session of the Randolph County Grand Jury, True Bill of Indictments were issued on Erica Lynn Locklear for the distribution of narcotics in Randolph County. According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, these indictments were issued as a result of investigations conducted by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Unit. Erica Lynn Locklear has been indicted for multiple felony drug charges. She was served on November 18, 2023, and received a $250,000 secured bond.
