Criminal Apprehension Team Arrests Suspect from Pursuit

ASHEBORO N.C. - This week the Randolph County Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested a suspect from a vehicle pursuit that occurred back in July. According to a press release, on July 13th, 2023, a Deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle with a fictitious tag and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver fled leading to a vehicle pursuit. The Sherriff's Office says the driver continued at a high rate of speed and drove in the opposite lane of travel westbound on Lexington Rd. until the deputy lost sight of the vehicle. Narcotics Investigation Leads to Seizure of 8 lbs of Cocaine One Arrest

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says a recent narcotics investigation in Seagrove led to the seizure of eight pounds of cocaine and the arrest of one suspect. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on September 11, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Cocaine in the Seagrove area ofRandolph County. ASHEBORO N.C. - The AMBER Alert for a kidnapped 9-year-old from Asheboro has been canceled after the child was located unharmed and the suspect arrested. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, at approximately 6:38 am this morning, officers responded to a home on Powhatan Avenue in Asheboro, for a report of a kidnapping. A grandmother reported to police that Darrell Milton Boyd Jr. had entered the residence and left with her 9-year-old granddaughter. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Asheboro Fire & Rescue Department says no one was injured in a commercial structure fire in Asheboro yesterday morning. According to a press release, at 08:35 a.m. fire crews were dispatched to 2520 N Fayetteville St in Asheboro for a report of a comercial structure fire. The first unit arrived on scene just three minutes after being dispatched at 08:38 a.m. and reported finding a single-story commercial metal building with heavy smoke showing. ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect allegedly driving a stolen vehicle tried to flee from police earlier this week but ended up crashing into a truck and being arrested. Suspect Wanted in Colorado Sex Crime Case Located and Arrested in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect wanted in a sex crime case in Colorado was located and arrested in Asheboro last week. On August 24th, 2023, a detective with the Boulder Police Department in Boulder, Colorado, contacted the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) about locating Nehemias Lopez, who was wanted on a Felony Sexual Assault-Physically Helpless charge. Boulder Police Department had been actively looking for Lopez for several months and believed that Lopez had fled from Colorado to Asheboro, NC.
