TRINITY N.C. - A search warrant issued as a part of a joint investigation located nearly 30,000 Fentanyl pills at a home in Trinity and landed one person in jail. On August 9th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit and Criminal Interdiction Team, Asheboro Police Department’s Vice Unit, and the Department of Homeland Security's Investigation division (HSI), executed a search warrant on a residence located at 6503 Bellawood Dr. in Trinity. According to a press release, that search located approximately 28,400 Fentanyl pills that weighed approximately 12.5 pounds, along with U.S. Currency. As a result, Robert Gurung was arrested and transported to Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for the multiple felony drug and trafficking charges. ...

This morning at around 10 a.m. emergency crews from Guil-Rand and Sophia Fire Departments along with Randolph County EMS responded to I-74 E near Cedar Square Rd for a report of a vehicle off the roadway. According to a post on Facebook by Guil-Rand Fire Department, crews arrived to find a rollover accident down an embankment involving three patients. On Friday, July 28th, 2023, at around 7:30 pm, emergency crews were called to the scene of a vehicle collision where a pedestrian was struck on E Dixie Dr near Zaxby's. According to an accident report from the Asheboro Police Department, a 2005 Nissan SUV was traveling west on E Dixie Dr near Executive Way when a pedestrian stepped into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. TRINITY N.C. - A man who fired a gun at a residence after an argument and then lead police on a high-speed pursuit was arrested over the weekend according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office. On July 23, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Thayer Rd., Trinity, in reference to an armed person who had fired a gun at a residence following an altercation. While deputies were responding, the caller told 9-1-1 the suspect had left and returned. When the deputies arrived, they say they were able to hear voices on the front porch of the residence and as they approached, they heard a passenger car drive off at a high rate of speed south on Thayer Rd. ASHEBORO N.C. - Charges are stacking up against a suspect with several active warrants who fled on foot from deputies and was located hiding in a crawlspace by a police K9. According to a press release, on July 13th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Detective in the area of Erect Rd., Seagrove, observed a male subject acting suspicious. Upon the detective pulling into the driveway of the residence the male fled on foot. The detective was advised that the male was James Henry Bolton-McKee, who had active warrants for his arrest. On Tuesday July 18th, 2023, at around 9:30 pm, police were notified of a larceny at the Quik Chek store on Sunset Ave in Asheboro. SEAGROVE N.C. - One person was arrested after a short vehicle chase ended in a crash in Seagrove last week. According to J. Auman Chief of Police for the Seagrove Police Department, just after 2 p.m. on July 17th, 2023, while on patrol in the town, he ran a tag on a vehicle that came back as ficticious. Chief Auman says when he attempted to pull over the driver on Little River Road near Boone Farm Rd, the suspect failed to yield, leading to a brief vehicle pursuit. The chase ended after only around one mile when the driver lost control and crashed into an embankment while making a turn from Little River Rd on to Old Troy Rd.
