Randolph County is the 11th largest county in North Carolina, containing interstates, country roads, forests, lakes, rivers, and creeks. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver is facing felony charges after police say while intoxicated, he fired a shot at the victim's car before ramming it several feet. On January 13th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an incident on US 220business just south of McDowell Road after a caller reported an armed person. Upon arrival, deputies met with the caller who said he had been the victim of a road rage incident where his vehicle was shot at before being rammed by another driver. At 1:25 PM on Friday January 13th, 2023, firefighters from Ulah, Westside, and East Side Fire Departments, along with Randolph County EMS were dispatched to a home on Ashbrook View Ln in Asheboro. On January 10th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office SRO responded after staff at Ramseur Elementary School reported an irate parent at the school. While the SRO was responding, Randolph County 911 received a call where the caller claimed that someone had fired a weapon into the school. At 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 311 near Banner Whitehead Road in Randolph County. According to a press release from the NC Highway Patrol, William Greenleaf Golden's 2003 Dodge Durango SUV had become disabled due to an electrical malfunction and was parked partially in the southbound lane of US 311. ASHEBORO N.C. - The owner of a vehicle was arrested on felony drug charges after three juveniles took his vehicle from a party to get more alcohol and were stopped by deputies and troopers in Seagrove on Sunday. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on January 8, 2023, deputies conducted a traffic stop on NC HWY 705 and Lawrence Farm Rd., in Seagrove. During the investigation, it was determined that the three underage juvenile occupants had been at a party in the area. A search of the vehicle located a firearm, twenty-seven individually packaged and sealed oil cartridges containing THC/CBD, marijuana, and psilocybin psychedelic mushrooms. ASHEBORO N.C. - Detectives with the Asheboro Police Department are investigating after the Hardees in Asheboro was robbed at gunpoint in the middle of the day. On January 5th, 2023, just before 3pm, officers responded to the Hardee’s located at 457 East Dixie Drive in reference to a panic alarm. According to Asst Police Chief Robbie Brown with the Asheboro Police Department, while officers were enroute communications advised the business had been robbed.
