On October 9th, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to High Point St, in Randleman for a call about an armed robbery that had occurred on Interstate 73/74. When the police arrived, they located the victim who had obvious injuries. The victim told police that he was riding with a “friend” who he was allowing to drive his new vehicle. That "friend" was identified by the Sheriff's Office as "James David Marler". ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is investigating what it believes to be a murder suicide that occurred overnight in Archdale. According to a press release, at around 4:55 am this morning, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says it responded to a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Huff Rd., Archdale. The caller reported being onthe phone with a male subject living on Huff Rd., who was threatening to shoot himself. Thecaller reported hearing a gunshot and the conversation ended. When police arrived at the home no one responded, and deputies forced entry where they then located two male subjects in the residence. On October 8, 2022, at approximately 11:06 am, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a gunshot wound near the intersection of Roy Farlow Rd. and Archdale Rd. in Trinity. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Ramseur Police Department say they have charged a Randleman man with first degree murder after a child died from suspected abuse. On Aug 31st, 2021, Investigators with the Ramseur Police Department received a call from the Randolph Health Emergency Department about a 14-month-old child that had sustained serious injuries related to suspected child abuse. That child was being transferred to Brenner's Children's Hospital's Pediatric ICU. Despite undergoing surgery on Sept 5th, 2022, the child succumbed to its injuries. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police arrested a man last night after they we called to a local motel for a stabbing. On September 21st, 2022, just after 7:30 pm, the Asheboro Police Department were called to 827 Albemarle Road in reference to a stabbing.  According to officials with the police department, when officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who reported he had been assaulted. The officer noted wounds to the victim's head however they refused to be transported by EMS. On September 13, 2022, at approximately 4:21 am, Randolph County 911 operators began receiving calls reporting burglaries of vehicles in the Sophia, Archdale, and Trinity areas. That morning deputies responded to thirty seperate addresses by 9 am and reported fifty vehicles had been entered. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man who was already on house arrest for felony larceny charges was arrested last week after deputies say they stopped him on a stolen excavator which he was operating under the influence. On September 14, 2022, at approximately 3:00 am, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy on US Hwy 220 S near Seagrove conducted a traffic stop on a Kubota excavator traveling north bound from the Seagrove area. The male driver, whom the Sheriff's Office identified as Tony Eugene Hiatt, was not provide information that he owned the excavator and according to a press release he appeared to be under the influence. Asheboro Fire Department (via Facebook) ASHEBORO N.C. - No one was injured in a late-night fire at the Asheboro Pizza Hut. According to a press release from the Asheboro Fire Department this morning, Fire and Rescue crews from the department's A-shift were dispatched to a commercial fire at the Pizza Hut on E Dixie Dr at around 11:30 pm. "Crews arrived on scene to find heavy smoke showing. Crews conducted a search to verify the building was not occupied. Crews were also able to quickly extinguish the fire," said Samantha East, Public Information Officer with the Asheboro Fire Department.
