ASHEBORO N.C. – With just a few days before the end of the year, the North Carolina Zoo exceeded one million guests in a calendar year for the first time in its history. On December 27th, 2023, Ran Liu and his family became the one millionth visitor to the North Carolina Zoo for the 2023 calendar year. The previous record for highest attendance in a calendar year was 930,002, set in 2022. ASHEBORO N.C.- One-stop early voting is now available at the Randolph County Board of Elections, 1457 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Municipal General Election is held to elect mayors and members of the local cities and towns governing boards for Asheboro, Franklinville, High Point, Liberty, Ramseur, Randleman, Seagrove, Staley and Thomasville, as well as the Asheboro Board of Education. State Board Approves Student and Public Employee ID Cards in Upcoming Elections

ASHEBORO N.C. — The State Board of Elections has approved almost a hundred student and employee ID cards for use in the upcoming 2023 municipal and 2024 primary and general elections in North Carolina. With the passage of Voter ID laws in North Carolina, voters will be asked to show photo ID when voting in state starting with the municipal elections this fall. While most voters will simply show their driver’s license, for those who don't have a driver's license there are many other acceptable photo IDs, and that list is growing with the approval of ninety-nine student and employee IDs. In March of 2019, the NC Zoo announced they had become a 'Certified Sensory Inclusive venue' by KultureCity, a worldwide, leading non-profit recognized for using their resources to revolutionize and effect change in the community for those with sensory needs. “We are very excited to offer this program to enhance our inclusion efforts for all guests,” said the Zoo’s Guest Service Officer Jamie Merchel in a press release announcing the certification.
