ASHEBORO N.C. - It's been 22 years since terrorist hijacked and crashed planes into the world trade center, pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. This year, as with all years, we gather to remember those lost on that tragic day so that we may never forget. Asheboro 9/11 Memorial Ruck Asheboro Fire Department - Sept 11th, 2023, 8 AM Every year since 2016 firefighters with the Asheboro Fire/Rescue Department have gathered on 9/11 for a 9.11 mile ruck to honor and remember those lost on 9/11. This year is no different. Open to the public, anyone is welcome to come make the long walk through the streets of Asheboro (with or without a Ruk or weighted vest), or just to come out and support local heroes. Sheriffs Office Honors Sandy Bradshaw As 20th Anniversary Of 9/11 Approaches

ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office has placed a decal in the hood of two of two if’s patrol vehicles and the rear window of another in the memory of Sandy Bradshaw as well all the brave first responders who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks on Sept 11th. Sandy Bradshaw (Photo provided by National Park Service) Thirty-eight year old Sandy Waugh Bradshaw, was a native of Climax, North Carolina. Bradshaw was an American flight attendant on board United Airlines Flight 93 during the September 11th attacks. Passengers and crew on the plane learned that planes had crashed into the World Trade Center and Pentagon. Bradshaw told her husband that she and other flight attendants were boiling water to toss on the hijackers, before telling him she had to go and that passengers ...
