[Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - No injuries were reported last night after fire crews responded to a fire at a duplex in Asheboro.  At 10:16 p.m. on December 12th, 2023, Asheboro Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a reported apartment fire at 617 S Church St.  The first unit arrived on scene just two minutes later and found a working fire in a small duplex. Fire fighters located and extinguished a fire in one of the apartments and ventilated the building. Driver Seriously Injured in Crash that Shutdown I-73/74 Monday Night

[Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C.- A driver was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident on I-73/74 late Monday night that shutdown the interstate for nearly three hours. Just after 10:30 p.m. Asheboro Fire/Rescue Department, Randolph County EMS, Asheboro Police, and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer on I-73/74 northbound, near the Sunset Ave exit. The State Highway Patrol was also notified of the crash and Troopers responded to investigate. In a press release, the Highway Patrol says that Abdelaleem Mustafa Alnagar, 23, of Colfax, N.C., was stopped on the northbound shoulder of I-73/74 in a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Asheboro Fire & Rescue Department says no one was injured in a commercial structure fire in Asheboro yesterday morning. According to a press release, at 08:35 a.m. fire crews were dispatched to 2520 N Fayetteville St in Asheboro for a report of a comercial structure fire. The first unit arrived on scene just three minutes after being dispatched at 08:38 a.m. and reported finding a single-story commercial metal building with heavy smoke showing. Ten crews with a total of twenty-two fire personnel were able to get the fire under control by 09:01 a.m. Asheboro Police Department, Randolph County Emergency Services, and Duke Energy were all on scene providing assistance, and Westside Fire Department sent a fire crew to Station 1 to fill in until units ...

Firefighters put out a vehicle fire at Energizer Plant 1's employee parking on Aug 25th, 2023. [Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - Police say a driver failing to yield was the cause of a vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon when a pick-up crashed into the side of Una Mas restaurant in Asheboro. On April 25th, 2023, at around 6pm, Asheboro Fire/Rescue, Ash-Rand Rescue, and Randolph County EMS were called to ¡UNA MAS! Modern Taqueria-Margaritas at 1337 E Dixie Dr in Asheboro for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the restaurant. Crews arrived to find a pickup-truck that had crashed into the rear of the building next to the Hwy 42 entrance into the Crossroads Plaza shopping center.
