ASHEBORO N.C. - Off parole for less than three months, a 23-year-old suspect is again facing multiple felony gun, drug, and fleeing charges after leading police from two counties on a nearly hour long pursuit early Sunday morning. In the early morning hours of September 3rd, 2023, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s was patrolling on US Hwy 220 S, near Asheboro, when they spotted a motorcycle with no license plate that shut off its lights off and made a turn on Crestview Church Rd. ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver is facing multiple charges after fleeing from Deputies earlier this month. According to a press release, on June 3rd, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a small black SUV traveling east bound on US Hwy 64 E. at a high rate of speed, on the wrong side of the road. A deputy near Crestwick Rd. and US Highway 64 E. witnessed a black SUV in the center-turning lane, passing vehicles in a no passing zone at a high rate of speed. ASHEBORO N.C. - What started as a call for a possible overdose in Asheboro ended with two people arrested, a gun seized, a stolen car recovered, all after a vehicle chase. On June 30, 2022 at around 6pm emergency crews and police were called to a possible overdose in the parking lot of the Randolph Mall. The 911 caller stated two subjects were slumped over inside a vehicle, which was parked in front of Belks. According to Assistant Chief of Police Robbie Brown with the Asheboro Police Department, officers arrived and located the vehicle. RALEIGH NC (NCDOT) – Nearly 70 miles of Central North Carolina roads will be resurfaced thanks to three contracts recently awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation. The milling, resurfacing and shoulder grading projects are scheduled to be complete by the summer of 2022. Two of the contracts cover nearly 55 miles of secondary roads in Chatham County and were awarded to Fred Smith Company with low bids of $2.3 million and $2.5 million. The other contract, covering nearly 12 miles of roadway in Randolph County including three sections of U.S. 64, was also awarded to Fred Smith Company with a low bid of just over $2 million.
