SEAGROVE N.C. - Two parents have been arrested and charged with felony child abuse after an investigation into the death of a five-year-old female in Seagrove according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office. On July 24, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service at Needhams Trail in Seagrove, for a welfare check. Patrol deputies located a deceased female juvenile five years of age. Detectives and investigators responded and began an investigation and collected evidence. That investigation led to the arrest of Christina Ashley Myers and Billy Gene Myers, the parents of the decedent.  Christina and Billy Myers were taken to the Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge of felony child abuse. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Ramseur Police Department say they have charged a Randleman man with first degree murder after a child died from suspected abuse. On Aug 31st, 2021, Investigators with the Ramseur Police Department received a call from the Randolph Health Emergency Department about a 14-month-old child that had sustained serious injuries related to suspected child abuse. That child was being transferred to Brenner's Children's Hospital's Pediatric ICU. Despite undergoing surgery on Sept 5th, 2022, the child succumbed to its injuries. In Jail For Murder Man Indicted By Grand Jury In Dismissed Child Abuse Case

ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man who is currently in jail charged with first degree murder related to child abuse was recently indicted by the Grand Jury in connection with a 2011 child abuse case. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, during the June session of Grand Jury, a true bill of indictment was issued for the arrest of Billy Ray Newsome, III, for felony child abuse-inflicting serious bodily injury. The Sheriff's office says the indictment stems from a 2011 child abuse case investigated by the Sheriff’s Office's Criminal Investigations Division where Newsome was charged in 2012 for assaulting a seven-month-old child; but, the case was dismissed in 2013 for lack of evidence. ASHEBORO NC - A local man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies for kidnapping, child abuse and assault. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office on September 30,th 2021, deputies responded to a report of Assault and Kidnapping that occurred on Pleasant Ridge Rd. in Ramseur. The Sheriff's Office says their investigation, into that incident led to the Deputy obtaining warrants on Travis Lane Parsons for Felony First Degree Kidnapping, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, and Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon. ASHEBORO NC - The N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has finalized the autopsy report for a four-month-old killed in Randolph County back in November of 2019. On November 9th, 2019 the Guil-Rand Fire Department, Randolph County EMS, and Archdale officers responded to a home in Archdale where they found four-month-old Nevaeh Faith Johnson unresponsive on a mattress. Nevaeh was transported to High Point Regional and then was transferred to Brenner Children’s Hospital where she was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit. Nevaeh would later be pronounced dead on November 12th, 2019. An autopsy was conducted on Nov. 14th, 2019.
